For this Georgian townhouse project in Islington, we were commissioned to create a dining table that would sit effortlessly within a carefully curated interior scheme by Studio Shan.
Designed to seat ten comfortably, the table takes on a bespoke pill-shaped form — a softer, more considered alternative to a traditional rectangular table. The rounded ends create a more inclusive feel, allowing for easy conversation and a natural flow around the piece.
Crafted from English oak, the table brings warmth, integrity, and longevity. As always, we focused on celebrating the natural character of the timber — allowing the grain and tone to speak quietly within the space.
A key part of the process was developing a bespoke finish. Working closely with the client and Studio Shan, we proposed a range of finishes to ensure the final tone sat harmoniously within the wider scheme. The result is subtle and balanced, enhancing the oak without overwhelming it.
Thoughtfully proportioned and carefully made, this is a piece designed not just to fit the room, but to belong within it — a table for gathering, built to stand the test of time.
