The country may be easing into the steadier pace that comes with the Christmas break but, for us, life in the workshop has barely slowed from a gallop. We’ve hurtled through December, but we’re finally packing off our last orders for 2020. Then it’ll be a short breather for the team, before we take stock and look forward to the months ahead.
And what a year it’s been. When we launched Forest to Home back in 2015, it’s certainly safe to say we couldn’t have predicted that we’d have a global pandemic on our hands. The last few months have been a time of highs and lows for us in Wiltshire, but I’m proud to say that we’ve pulled together. And thanks to hard graft and our talented team, we have some amazing projects under our belt.
From the vast oak tables that we handcrafted for the Crown Estate, to our bespoke ash and walnut kitchen, we’ve helped our clients create peaceful spaces in a time of turmoil. Likewise, our ash desks – Calm and Restoration – helped foster productivity for our many clients who became remote workers overnight. After all, 2020 was the year when our homes became our sanctuary, a classroom and, for millions, the office too.
Being in lockdown also gave us the chance to step back, regroup and focus on our passion for sustainability and design. We allowed our creativity to take centre stage as we worked on our Cruck bedroom range, inspired by the arched timber frames that support so many of Wiltshire’s ancient buildings.
Perhaps most importantly though, our talented team has emerged from 2020 safe and in good health. The challenges we’ve all faced have united us and sparked our creativity in beautiful and unexpected ways. As they say, hope springs eternal, so here’s to a year of health, happiness and new discoveries for us all in 2021.
